Mockingjay screenwriter Peter Craig – also known for The Town – has been hired by Warner Bros. to adapt the script for the Jennifer Lawrence-starrer It’s What I Do, The Hollywood Reporter confirms. Based off the memoir It’s What I Do: A Photographer’s Life of Love and War by Lynsey Addario, the story follows the photographer through various war zones in Afghanistan, the Congo, and Somalia, as well as her kidnapping in Libya. She was one of the few women in the field of war photojournalism and often focused her work on women in traditionalist societies. Lawrence is attached to portray Addario.
Also attached to the project is director Steven Spielberg, who is also developing the project with producer Andrew Lazar. Spielberg took a directing break after 2012’s Lincoln, but is coming back in full force in 2015 and 2016 with the Tom Hanks Cold War thriller Bridge of Spies, DreamWorks’ The BFG, and the cult sci-fi adaptation Ready Player One, with It’s What I Do to fall somewhere in the mix.
This will be Craig’s third go-round writing lines for Lawrence. His second script for the actress, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay– Part 2, is slated for release on November 20. Up ahead, he will be working on the Gerard Butler (300) action film Hunter Killer and Bad Boys 3.
