Mission Impossible 7 is set to restart filming in September after the coronavirus and social distancing halted its original production, according to a statement from Paramount Pictures.
On a BBC radio show, first assistant director Tommy Gromley said, “We hope to start shooting again in September. We were days from shooting in Venice — we were right at the epicenter when it all kicked off — so we had to shut down in Venice where we were four or five days from shooting.”
COVID-19 not only upended the movie industry but forced Paramount Pictures, as well as many other studios, to alter their shooting schedule and plans considerably. To comply with social distancing, all production was shut down to stop the spread of the virus. Now countries are beginning to open up businesses again after social distancing practices, though the United States still has a record number of cases and deaths, having reached over 100,000 last week.
Mission Impossible 7 ‘s production team believes they can wrap shooting by May of 2021 if they begin in September. The majority of the film will be shot in the UK and comply with the British Film Commission guidelines about how to restart production while keeping the cast and crew safe. As of now, there has been no word on a release date, but the film will most likely premiere sometime in 2022.
