Michelle Rodriguez (The Fast & Furious) and Justice Smith (Pokemon Detective Pikachu) are the newest members to join Chris Pine in the latest film adaptation of Hasbro’s most popular game franchise, Dungeons & Dragons. The Hollywood Reporter was the first to break the news about the added cast.
The comedic duo behind Game Night, Jonathan Goldstein and Jonathan Francis Daley, are set to direct the adaptation from a script that they wrote based on a draft from Michael Gilio.
If not familiar with the game, it’s war games, treasure hunting quests, friendship, and fortune variations, all set in a fantasy world that incorporates humans, elves, orcs, and hundreds of other fantasy creatures created in one’s mind. The game is overseen by the Dungeon Master, who is famously known for using multi-sided dice.
Since the game was first released 46 years ago has gained more than 40 million fans who have interacted with or played and over those years have turned into video games and Livestream entertainment on popular platforms like Twitch and YouTube.
The movie’s plot is still being kept under lock & key with little information about who has been cast other than Chris Pine and now Rodriguez and Smith. Hopefully, more news will come soon.
