Warner Bros. may have found a director for its Wonder Woman movie, as the studio is reportedly in talks with Breaking Bad director Michelle MacLaren to take the helm.
McClaren is best know for directing some of the most acclaimed episodes of Breaking Bad. She has also directed episodes of AMC’s The Walking Dead, and both HBO’s Game of Thrones and The Leftovers. This would be her first time directing a feature. It was previously reported that Warner Bros. was looking for a female director for the stand-alone story and McClaren’s name was frequently rumored to be on the short list. The last attempt at adapting Wonder Woman was a failed TV pilot by David E. Kelly (creator of Ally McBeal).
Wonder Woman is the second film to be released as part of Warner Bros.’ massive slate of films based for the DC Comics cinematic universe. Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 6) will make her first appearance as the warrior princess of the Amazons in 2016’s Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, which is being directed by Zach Snyder (Man of Steel). Wonder Woman will release in 2017 after The Suicide Squad in 2016. It was announced Monday that Margot Robbie will play fan-favorite Harley Quinn in that movie.
