Michael Peña Stars in Trailer of Netflix’s Newest Sci-fi Thriller ‘Extinction’

The trailer for Netflix’s newest addition to their continuously extending universe of unique science fiction films dropped today. Extinction, starring Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp alum Michael Peña, joins the illustrious likes of films such as The Titan,, starring Sam Worthington and The Cloverfield Paradox.

Peña stars as Peter, a husband and father who suffers from horrible nightmares of unknown forces that cause him to lose his family. The bad dreams start to affect his familial relationships, until alien invaders turn nightmares into intuitive warnings. Peter uses his visions to find the strength to protect his family and ensure their survival through the discovery of who he truly is.

Coming off the success of his psychological horror film, Hounds of Love, Ben Young is directing Extinction with a similar approach to the sci-fi thriller, confirms Indie Wire. The script, written by Spenser Cohen, will co-star Mean Girls Lizzy Caplan as Peter’s wife Alice, Happy Death Day’s Israel Broussard, and Mike Colter from the successful Netflix series Luke Cage.

The film will be available to stream on Netflix as of July 27.
