MGM Releases First Look at ‘House of Gucci’

From the man who brought you Alien, Blade Runner, Thelma & Louise, Gladiator, and several other classics, Ridley Scott returns with another star-studded affair entitled House of Gucci, this time a biopic on the infamous Gucci family. Starring Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, Salma Hayek, and Al Pacino, this electrifying new trailer for the film is sure to excite viewers into checking out the beast on the big screen. Based on the 2001 book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed by Sara Gay Forden, and adapted to the screen by Roberto Bentivegna and Becky Johnston, the title of the source material says all we need to know. Now let’s check out that sneak peek.

The recently released trailer showcases the all-on-location style of Scott, with the flashy, elite Italian lifestyle captured in the gloriously stylized trailer, with its use of the song “Heart of Glass” by Blondie showcasing the bold, badass character that specifically Gaga is tackling. The trailer features Gaga and Driver all dolled up and in full character actor form.

Of course, this is not the only Ridley Scott film starring Driver that is scheduled to release in 2021, The Last Duel, also starring former roommates and co-Oscar winners Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. Scott is offering us not one, but two period pieces, both true stories, just completely different centuries. The medieval piece is set to release October 15th, while our three decades’ worth of story is set to hit screens November 24th, just over a month later.

The last time Jared Leto transformed into a role this much, in 2014’s Dallas Buyers Club, he won best supporting actor at the Academy Awards. Gaga also recently was nominated for her role in 2019’s A Star is Born. Driver was nominated in both 2019 and 2020 for supporting actor in Black KKKlansman and leading actor in Marriage Story. We’ll see if this star-studded film can nab Scott another Oscar nomination to his beyond illustrious name.
