The sky’s the limit, especially on Max. A Minecraft Movie builds its streaming home on max starting June 20th. A Minecraft Movie adapts the world of the mega successful Minecraft video game onto film. A group of outcasts struggling to cope with the realities of life find an unexpected escape when a magical object sends them headlong into a world where everything is made from blocks, and imagination is the key to success.
Variety notes that upon its release, A Minecraft Movie became a financial hit, making a whopping $162 million on its opening weekend alone. Its worldwide total for the debut weekend was a massive $313 million, which is the best opening for a video game film.
With its theatrical run at a close, it sits very close to cracking $1 billion, currently at a worldwide total of $951 million. Its final total was undoubtedly helped by the push of memes surrounding the film, which in turn resulted in extremely rowdy showings and devastated auditoriums.
A Minecraft Movie joins the ranks of other 2025 titles on Max, such as Mickey 17, Companion, and Alto Knights. It’s also home to other staples of Warner Bros., such as Barbie, the Dune series, and many others.
