‘Matrix 4’ Set for Release the Same Day as ‘John Wick 4’

Keanu Reeves’ career has seen a major resurgence, starring in so many different franchises and guest appearances in recent memory. However, it seems Keanu’s comeback is even bigger than most initially thought, as the two franchises he’s most associated with will have films releasing on the exact same day. The upcoming forth installment of The Matrix has its release date set for May 21st 2021, which happens to also be the release date for John Wick Chapter 4.

Both films are highly anticipated by Keanu fans, as The Matrix put him on the map as a major action star and John Wick marked the start of his career comeback. May is a fitting release month for both franchises, as the first two Matrix films were released in May with very huge numbers, especially for R-rated film franchise at the time. As for John Wick, the recent third installment Parabellum came out this past May with successful results, making about $171 million in the U.S. box office alone and being the most successful entry thus far.

While this sounds like the perfect double feature for longtime Keanu Reeves fans, the release dates are not final just yet. Very rarely do films with a similar market get released the same day, even if they are initially announced for that date. Considering how Matrix 4 is still in its very early stages of production, it could easily be delayed or pushed forward to a different release date. If not Matrix 4, then John Wick 4 could also end up being pushed back, considering how every single Wick film released during a different month with the first coming out in October, 2014 and the second in February, 2017. Regardless of whether they share a release date or not, fans still have a lot of look forward to in terms of action packed Keanu Reeves films.

Matrix 4 and John Wick Chapter 4 are set for release May 21st 2021

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
