Marvel’s ‘Blade’ Adds Aaron Pierre To The Cast

Alongside Mahershala Ali, the actor Aaron Pierre has been cast in Marvel’s upcoming vampire pic Blade, known for his roles in Syfy’s Krypton and M. Knight Shyamalan’s Old

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the news, but character details are being kept in a coffin. Pierre joins Ali and Delroy Lindo for the film. Ali stars as Blade, the half-human, half-vampire who first appeared in the 1973 Marvel comics Tomb of Dracula No. 10. Ali was announced as the star of the film in the closing seconds of Marvel’s supersized San Diego Comic-Con panel in 2019. He rode through the ranks thanks to Wesley Snipes’ portrayal of the character on a trilogy released from 1998-2004. 

Mogul Mowgli director, Bassam Tariq is directing the film with a script from Watchmen writer Stacy Osei-Kuffour. The film does not yet have a release date but Marvel’s newest super-hero pic Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opens on May 6th. 

Pierre, already in the Disney family, starred in Barry Jenkin’s Lion King prequel as the voice of Mufasa. He has also starred in the Amazon series The Underground Railroad.
