Martin Campbell To Direct First Film Since 2011

Although it’s yet to be officially confirmed, Paramount and Parkes/MacDonald are in talks with Martin Campbell (The Green Lantern) to sign him on to direct their newest film, Alpha, according to sources of the Wrap.

The script, written by Scott Frank (The Wolverine), with former versions by David Benioff (Game of Thrones), Graham Roland (Fringe), and Carl Ellsworth (Red Dawn), tells the story of dogs and a seal – no, not the animal, but a Navy SEAL who travels to South America to train a team of canines for combat. When the dogs’ handler is captured, the SEAL assumes the training to be over, but when he hears the handler is still alive, he and the dogs set out to save him.

Campbell has a lot of experience in action films- he directed two James Bond movies in 1995 and 2006 and directed both of the Zorro flicks.

Paramount and Parkes/MacDonald recently worked together, producing Flight with Denzel Washington in 2012.
