Marisa Tomei May Join ‘The War with Grandpa’ Starring Robert De Niro

According to Deadline, Academy-Award winning actress Marisa Tomei (Captain America: Civil War) is in talks to join the cast of The War with Grandpa which stars fellow Oscar winners Robert De Niro (Dirty Grandpa) and Christopher Walken (The Jungle Book). Funnyman and Emmy-winning writer Eugene Levy (Finding Dory) is also on board.

Tim Hill (Alvin and the Chipmunks) directs the comedy. The story is based on a book by Robert Kimmel Smith, with adapted screenplay credits going to Smith, Matt Ember, Tom J. Astle, Lisa Addario, and Joe Syracuse. The story follows a child named Peter who is upset that he is now being forced by his mother (Tomei) to share his beloved bedroom with his grandfather (De Niro). Peter decides to declare war by playing pranks on his grandfather in an effort to drive him out. However, grandpa is pretty wise to the scheme and is not so easy to get rid of. Additionally, Peter’s teenage sister is a rebel constantly trying to sneak out of the house.

Marro Films is producing while TWC’s Dimension will distribute. Jane Rosenthal and Berry Welsh are executive producing.

Tomei was seen in last year’s Academy Award-nominated The Big Short and earlier this year in the box office hit Captain America: Civil War. She has just completed filming of Spider-Man: Homecoming and has had a recurring role as Mimi Whiteman on Fox’s Emmy-nominated musical drama Empire.
