In addition to their starring roles in Jonathan Kurzel’s upcoming adaptation of Macbeth, Marion Cotillard (Two Days, One Night) and Michael Fassbender (Steve Jobs) will also be teaming up with the director for another project, according to Deadline. Kurzel directed two features—Snowtown (2011) and The Turning (2013)—before tackling Shakespeare, and next he’ll be adapting a very different type of work for the screen: the popular Ubisoft video game Assassin’s Creed. Their roles in the film have not yet been revealed, though Ubisoft and New Regency Productions are hoping to create a franchise based on the game if the film does well at the box office.
Cotillard has some action movie experience under her belt (she had a small role in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises), though she is mostly known for her Oscar-winning performance as Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose (2007) and has received further acclaim for her roles in Rust and Bone (2012), The Immigrant (2013) and Two Days, One Night (2014). Fassbender received an Oscar nod for his performance in 12 Years Slave (2013) and will be starring as the late Apple founder Steve Jobs in Danny Boyle’s upcoming biopic.
