Marion Cotillard (Two Days, One Night) and Lea Seydoux (Blue Is the Warmest Color) will star in the upcoming Canadian-French drama It’s Only the End of the World (Juste La Fin Du Monde) from director Xavier Dolan (Mommy).
The movie, based on the play of the same name by Jean-Luc Lagarce, follows a writer who goes back to his hometown to inform his family of his impending death, but no one will listen to him. Vincent Cassel (Black Swan), Nathalie Baye (Catch Me if You Can), and Gaspard Ulliel (Paris, je t’aime) also star in the movie.
The movie will go on sale at the Cannes Film Festival next month where it will likely find a distributor. Dolan’s previous movie, Mommy, won the festival’s Jury Prize and was submitted by the festival for a Best Foreign Language Film Oscar nomination. Cotillard’s presence should increase the asking price. She was recently cast in the upcoming video game adaptation Assassins Creed opposite Michael Fassbender. Seydoux will be seen next in the 007 sequel, Spectre. It’s Only the End of the World will start production at the end of next month.
