Marc Maron Says He’s Not a ‘Big’ Fan of Animated Movies at Release of His Latest Animated Film ‘The Bad Guys’

During an interview with Variety at the premiere of The Bad Guys, Marc Maron, one of the lead voice actors of the film, noted his lack of fondness for animated movies. The DreamWorks film is set to be released on April 22.

“I’m not a big animated movie guy, my sense of animation goes back to when I was in high school, and Ralph Bakshi’s ‘Wizards’ came out,” Maron said. “So my point of reference is a little stale. But this one was good!”

Maron plays Mr. Snake in The Bad Guys, a film surrounding the events of a high-profile heist in which Mr. Snake is one of the main animals in charge.

Ironically, The Bad Guys are not the only animated movie Maron is signed on for in 2022. Maron will be voicing Lex Luthor in the DC League of Super-Pets.

“They wanted me to be dry and sarcastic,” Maron explained. “So I played it kind of like me, but with a little more of a bite. That one, I didn’t even realize it was a big movie. They were just like, ‘Do you want to do this voice for Lex Luthor?’ and I was like, ‘Yeah! I thought it was a TV series, but now it’s going to be a huge movie. I should probably research more.”

Maron may not be the biggest fan of animated movies, but he can still be heard in both these films slated for release on April 22 and June 29 this year.
