Black Bear has announced a special, one-night-only 4DX theatrical event for Wicker, the romantic fantasy directed by Eleanor Wilson and Alex Huston Fischer (Save Yourselves!), scheduled for October 28, 2026.
The promotional rollout into the dynamic motion-and-environmental format—typically reserved for action tentpoles—comes in response to widespread social media buzz following the film’s promotional campaign, where audiences campaigned for an immersive experience utilizing synchronized motion seats, scent dispersion, and atmospheric effects.
Adapted from Ursula Wills’ short story The Wicker Husband, the fable centers on a solitary fisherwoman (Academy Award winner Olivia Colman) who commissions an eccentric village basketmaker (Peter Dinklage) to weave her a functional companion (Alexander Skarsgård). When the titular creation proves to be an ideal, captivating figure, his arrival disrupts the conservative community, triggering jealousy, social friction, and village-wide chaos. Elizabeth Debicki also stars in an ensemble supporting role.
“From the moment the trailer landed, audiences understood that Wicker could be something different, and they started asking to experience it in 4DX,” David Spitz, Head of U.S. Theatrical Distribution for Black Bear, said in a statement. “What’s particularly exciting is seeing this wholly original film connect with audiences who might not ordinarily see themselves in the audience for a film like this. 4DX gives us a chance to lean into everything that makes it special, while giving audiences exactly what they asked for.”
Wicker is slated to open nationwide in standard theaters on October 23, 2026, ahead of the October 28 immersive screening showcase.
