‘Man of Steel 2’ Fast-Tracked Before ‘Man of Steel’ Hits Theaters

While Superman fans everywhere await Man of Steel‘s premiere this Friday, they now have another film to anticipate – the sequel. Without waiting for the box office results of the first Man of Steel movie, Warner Bros. has fast-tracked filming on Man of Steel 2, with the same director and writer of the original movie, Zack Synder and David S. Goyer, signed on for a second time.

Along with Man of Steel and Man of Steel 2, Goyer is signed on to write Justice League, which will include Superman. In question is Christopher Nolan’s role in the next two films; Nolan assisted in producing and writing for the first film, but it is anticipated that his participation won’t be as “full blown” going forward, according to Deadline. If the film does as well as it is projected to during its opening weekend in a few days, Nolan’s help won’t be essential, at least from a box office point of view.

Perhaps the biggest part of this news is that the long-gestating Justice League movie appears to be given a fresh shot at actually making it to the big screen. With a Flash movie also in development, one wonders if DC might have decided to follow the success of the Marvel blueprint and build to the team up feature, rather that the other way around (as had been rumored). At any rate, there’s plenty to be excited about for DC comics fans.

Stayed tuned for Man of Steel fan reactions – it seems that Warner Bros. and the critics have no fear for the franchise’s inevitable success.
