Actress Lola Tung has officially joined the ensemble cast of Please, the next feature film project from writer-director Halina Reijn and independent studio A24. The casting announcement marks the latest addition to a production that is currently maintaining strict secrecy regarding its narrative themes and character details.
Tung joins a previously announced cast that includes musician Gracie Abrams in her feature film acting debut, alongside Tom Burke, Connor Storrie, and David Jonsson. Reijn is directing from her own original screenplay, marking her third consecutive collaboration with A24 following her previous directorial efforts on the satirical horror-comedy Bodies Bodies Bodies and the erotic thriller Babygirl.
Production responsibilities are being shared between A24 and Reijn’s Man Up Film banner, with Reijn and her frequent creative partner David Hinojosa serving as producers. A24 is fully financing the venture, while Zach Nutman is attached as an executive producer. Principal photography for the project is scheduled to begin this month on location in London and Germany.
Tung initially gained widespread industry recognition for her breakout starring role as Belly Conklin in Amazon Prime Video’s young adult drama series The Summer I Turned Pretty. She is currently involved in filming the franchise’s upcoming feature film continuation, which is designed to bring the narrative arc of the television adaptation to its formal conclusion.
The casting in Please continues a busy feature film slate for Tung. Earlier this year, she appeared opposite Lili Reinhart in the horror feature Forbidden Fruits and participated in Josephine Decker’s independent drama Chasing Summer, which held its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. Additionally, Tung is slated to appear in Neon’s upcoming thriller The Young People, directed by Osgood Perkins and co-starring Nicole Kidman and Nico Parker.
