Logo Unveiled for ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ with Possible Trailer Announcement

Matt Reeves (Cloverfield), returning director for the third installment in the Planet of the Apes prequel series released the new logo for War for the Planet of the Apes. He also tweeted that sometime during Sunday’s episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead, fans will get a special announcement relating to the upcoming movie.

Some have speculated that this announcement will tell us when the trailer will be released, while others think that it may be the actual trailer itself–despite hope that it would precede Star Wars: The Force Awakens on December 18th, along with the much anticipated X-Men: Apocalypse trailer. Whatever the case may be, we at Mxdwn are looking forward to the reveal.

While not much is known regarding the plot of War for the Planet of the Apes, Reeves has said that the story would see Caesar truly embodying the Moses-like figure that he is prophesied to become. The new film will see the return of Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings series) as Caesar, along with Judy Greer (Addicted to Fresno), and the additions of Woody Harrelson and Steve Zahn (That Thing You Do!).

War for the Planet of the Apes hits theaters July 14, 2017.
