List Of Eligible Films for Best International, Animated, And Documentary Feature Released For 96th Academy Awards

Ahead of the annual Academy Awards, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences unveiled a list of films eligible for specific categories in 2024. The categories include Documentary Feature Film, International Feature Film, and Animated Feature Film. 

167 documentaries have made the cut for eligibility, along with 88 countries being eligible for International Feature Film. 

As Deadline reports, shortlists for 15 movies from each category will be released on December 21st. 

For animated features, 33 films have been announced for eligibility. 

As stated by the AMPAS, not all films in the running for nomination have made it to their qualifying release yet, but made it clear that it is a requirement for any of the films to move forward in the voting process. 

Some of the films included in the animation category are Spider-Man: Across The Spider-verse, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, and Hayao Miyazaki’s newest feature, The Boy And The Heron. 

Among the documentaries are The Issue With Tissue- A Boreal Love Story, They Shot The Piano Player, Full Circle, and Four Daughters. 

Included in the list for international features are The Wandering Earth II from China, Sudan’s Goodbye Julia, and Godland, coming from Iceland.

Full nominations will be released on January 23rd, 2024, with the 96th Oscars airing March 10th.
