‘Like Father’ Brings on Kristen Bell and Kelsey Grammar as Dad and Daughter

Buddy films have been a huge hit with viewers for many years, with 21 Jump Street being the latest major success. But what happens when that buddy film takes on a father-daughter relationship? Netflix looks to tackle this very idea with Like Father. Kristen Bell (Frozen, Veronica Mars) is in talks to play the female lead and Kelsey Grammar (The Last Tycoon, Transformers: Age of Extinction) is on board as the father, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Bell, if she decides to take the role, will be playing a workaholic who is basically stood up at her own wedding, but decides to go on her honeymoon regardless. Her honeymoon is a cruise, and she unintentionally meets her long-gone father, played by Grammar, who left her family when she was five because he felt like he was being held back. The film has been tabbed as a comedy, with the story most likely having the father and daughter rekindling their family relations.

The film has been picked up by Netflix, with actress/writer Lauren Miller making her feature directorial debut. She co-wrote and co-starred in For a Good Time, Call… and has directed many different shorts. Miller currently plans to start filming in August in New York City and somewhere in the Caribbean.

Bell is currently filming the sequel Bad Moms Christmas and will soon return to animation in Frozen 2. Grammar most recent role was in the TV series The Last Tycoon. He can be seen later this year in the action-adventure film Guardians of the Tomb.
