Lesbian Drama ‘Carol’ Gets Full Theatrical Trailer

With the impending release date for the drama Carol starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara on the horizon, the full trailer for the film has been released by the Weistein Company.

The lesbian affair drama has been drawing Oscar-hype since the release of the teaser trailer last month that was mostly scenes set to music in the background. The new trailer sheds light on the film’s plot. Based on Patricia Highsmith‘s The Price of Salt, the 1950’s love story centers on the relationship  between Therese Belivet (Rooney Mara), clerk in Manhattan and Carol (Cate Blanchett), who is in a loveless marriage with her husband Harge, played by Kyle Chandler (TV’s Friday Night Lights). Phyllis Nagy adapted the book for the big screen.

The Todd Haynes-directed project was originally set for a Christmas time release, but TWC moved up the date to November 20, the same time frame its past Oscar winners, The Imitation Game and The King’s Speech. The film has been making its way through the festival circuit, already screening at the London Film Festival, Telluride and Cannes, where Mara won a best actress prize.
