The sixth installment of the Jurassic franchise, but the third of the Jurassic World franchise from Colin Trevorrow, has been delayed from Summer 2021 to Summer 2022.
This is a less than shocking move as studios from Warner Bros to Disney have been pushing back completed projects. Studios have delayed a slew of blockbusters including Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune,’ the phase 4 kick-off ‘Black Widow,’ and most recently Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman.’
The dinosaur picture was originally scheduled for a May 2020 shoot, but due to the worldwide pandemic, it was pushed until August. It was one of the first movies to resume production post quarantine. After COVID-19 outbreak and a few hiccups along the way, the rest of the shoot has seemingly gone well.
Along with the announcement director Colin Trevorrow said, “For the past three months, I’ve worked with an extraordinary cast and crew on a film we can’t wait to share with the world.” While this seems like the production has wrapped principle photography, there is still at least three more weeks left to go.
Trevorrow then broke the news that “we’ll have to wait a bit longer, it will all be worth it. Let’s stay healthy and take care of each other until then.” The sentiment comes days after Cineworld closed US and UK operations as well as the latest Bond installment delayed until 2021.
The tentpole third installment entitled ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ combines the modern cast of Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and others with the original trilogy cast of Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill, and Laura Dern along with, who appeared in the 1993 original and the subsequent installments of the soft reboot Jurassic World franchise. It is yet to be seen what role the original cast will play, but there has been talk that they will play a more significant role than Goldblum did in ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.’
In addition, this new poster was released showing off the entire cast.
‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ is now scheduled for a June 10th, 2022 release date.
