Former Bridesmaids star, Kristen Wiig, is currently in negotiations to join Gal Gadot in the upcoming Wonder Woman sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter. So far only a little of the plot has been released for the upcoming sequel. Nonetheless, it seems that like its predecessor, it will also take place in the past, all the way back in the 1980’s, most likely dealing with influences of the Cold War.
Patty Jenkins will be making her return to the DC universe and directing the next film. If Wiig agrees, she will be playing the DC comic book villian, Cheetah. As is common in the comic book world, there are multiple different characters who don the mantle of that name, leaving the possibilities open for the character, who does have superpowers. Considering how many of Wiig’s roles cast her as the harried everywoman, it will be fun to see the talented actress turn to a more chaotic role!
As of now, Wonder Woman 2 is planned to come out on November 1, 2019.
