It is the age of reboots in cinema, and currently many of said reboots have been extremely successful, including It and the new Blade Runner 2049. Sony looks to capitalize on the reboot era, and is attempting to bring back a TV franchise gone film franchise back to life. Sony is currently casting for the Charlie’s Angels reboot and they have their sights on Kristen Stewart to join the detective agency, according to Variety.
Stewart has stayed mostly out of the spotlight since Snow White and the Huntsman back in 2010. She has stuck mostly to indie films, with many fans falling in love with her work in Cafe Society and Personal Shopper. We would be extremely excited to see her back in an AAA film, especially with her talent. Stewart is not the only actress that is being pursued for the roles. Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, 12 Years a Slave) has also been discussed to join the cast.
Elizabeth Banks, the director behind the wildly popular Pitch Perfect 2, has been selected to direct. The film will be produced by Banks, Max Handelman, and Elizabeth Cantillon will be producing. The film is currently slated for a summer 2019 release, and we are excited to see how Banks can revamp the franchise.
