Kevin Smith States “J.J is doing the Lord’s Work” During ‘Star Wars IX’ Set Visit.

With only a year away from release, fans are very much curious to see what is in store for the next Star Wars movie. Die-hard Star Wars fan and cult favorite director Kevin Smith got to experience some insight on the next installment in the Star Wars franchise.

Smith couldn’t go into much detail considering the film is still only a year away, so major details are yet to be revealed. Smith however mentioned in an interview on Good Morning America that J.J. Abrams is, “Doing the lord’s work” and compared Abrams’ directing to not a movie, but “directing a small country”. This is especially apparent when Smith mentioned that he saw an actor from previous movies gave a performance so good, it made him shed a tear. Some may say due to Kevin Smith’s loyalty to Abrams and being a hardcore Star Wars fan, there is a strong bias to his claim for this newest installment. However, career best performance of a regular cast member in these movies is still an incredibly bold claim.

Obviously, Smith didn’t go into much detailed outside of what was mentioned above, not even which actor gave the career best performance due to non-disclosure agreements. Whatever the case, fans are still curious on what Abrams has in store for this next installment, especially due to the highly mixed reactions of The Last Jedi. It is clear Disney is trying to play it a bit safe with bringing Abrams back after how successful The Force Awakens was. Only time will tell if Abrams can strike lightening twice with Star Wars Episode IX.

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
