Kerry Washington (Django Unchained) has signed on as the lead in the new MGM romantic comedy Is He the One?, as reported by Deadline. Written by Michelle Morgan (Girl Most Likely), with Malcolm D. Lee (The Best Man Holiday) set to direct, the rom-com will attempt to veer away from conventional girl-meets-guy tropes.
The story will be mainly told in flashbacks to past relationships, as Washington’s character prepares for her wedding in the present day. The audience will then find itself in a guessing game throughout the story, to see who the lucky guy will be waiting at the altar by movie’s end. That guy, and the other not-so-lucky men, have yet to be cast.
As deals further develop on the project, Washington will be continuing her work on ABC’s hit Emmy-nominated series Scandal, which has helped the young actress’s career really take off.
