Kate Winslet, Chiwetel Ejiofer, Aaron Paul, and Michael B. Jordan to Join Impressive Cast of ‘Triple Nine’

Kate Winslet falls for Josh Brolin's as a swarthy stranger in 'Labor Day'.

John Hillcoat’s Triple Nine, a thriller centering on gang members, murder, and a corrupt cop, is in talks to welcome a new female lead, Kate Winslet. The film revolves around thieves who plot the killing of a police officer as a distraction while devising a dangerous heist across town. Hillcoat, known for Lawless, The Road, and The Proposition, is an Australian film director, who has a passion for directing dramatic films, in which characters question morality.

Kate Winslet could potentially act alongside the star of 12 Years a Slave, Chiwetel Ejiofer, and Breaking Bad co-lead Aaron Paul. There is a high likelihood that the impressive cast list will also include Gone Baby Gone’s Casey Affleck, The Fast and the Furious’ Gal Gadot, Chronicle’s Michael B. Jordan, Warm Bodies’ Teresa Palmer, and End of Watch’s Michael Pena in Hillcoat’s drama (all this according to a pair of reports from Variety and Deadline). The number of well established actors up for roles in this film is remarkable, especially considering Triple Nine will be writer Matt Cook’s first feature film.

“Triple Nine” is an expression police officers use when they require immediate aid. If all of the above cast star in Hillcoat’s film, Triple Nine should require no assistance to be a captivating thriller and a potential award winner. Open Road recently nabbed the distribution rights, and is planning a 2015 release.
