Juliette Binoche Joins Mia Hansen-Løve’s ‘Maya’

According to The Film Stage, Mia Hansen-Løve, the director of Things to Come, will direct Maya. Collaborators will be Aarshi Banjeree, Roman Kolinka, Cédric Kahn, and the newest cast addition Juliette Binoche.

The film will center around a 30 year old man named Gabriel, a French war reporter who has been taken hostage in Syria. He then heads to India after spending months as a hostage. In India, he goes to Goa, the state in western India where his childhood home resides. There, he reflects on his life after having such a traumatic experience. Kolinka is in talks to play the lead, but nothing is confirmed.

Binoche has worked with Hansen-Love before in Summer Hours. Binoche was last seen in Olivier Assayas’ Clouds of Sils Maria

Production on Maya will start in September of 2017. Hansen-Love’s Things to Come is in theaters now and has critics buzzing.
