Josh Brolin was recently added to the cast of the upcoming sci-fi movie Dune, the newest adaptation of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi novel, according to report by The Hollywood Reporter. Brolin will be playing Gurney Halleck, is a troubadour-swordsman.
The widely considered literary classic takes place in the desert-like planet Arrakis where a noble family tries to reign and control its main export, a scarce drug.
The rest of the star-studded cast includes Timothee Chalamet in the leading role as Paul Atreides, plus Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgard, Charlotte Rampling and Javier Bardem. Oscar Isaac and Zendaya are also in talks to join the cast.
The duty lies on Atreides to band the tribes of Arrakis together to go up against Emperor Shaddam IV and bring honor to the Atreides family. Halleck interacts with Atreides closely to train him to become the head of the House of Atreides.
Audiences are interested to see whether the film will remain true to the book. Denis Villeneuve, the director of the film, will be undertaking this project, already having experience with directing sci-fi movies such as Blade Runner 2049 and Arrival.
The film is slated for production during the spring in Budapest and Jordan, the latter being a fitting set location due to having the North Arab Desert.
