Academy Award winning writer Jordan Peele has taken to twitter and other social media to share a poster and announce the title of his next project Nope. The film is set to star recent Academy Award winner Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, and Steven Yeun.
It was reported on back in April that the newly nominated Yeun would co-star in the upcoming film. Palmer and Kaluuya were announced a little earlier, but little was known about the project at the time. This will be Kaluuya’s second film with Peele, who directed him to his first Oscar nod with Get Out. While Palmer and Yeun will be working with him for the first time, though Yeun did appear in Jordan Peele’s Twilight Zone.
Nope will be Peele’s third directorial outing. After garnering huge critical and audience acclaim for his first film Get Out, he went on to immediately direct his next film. In 2019, he directed his second film Us, which was just as financially successful, but garnered some mixed responses. Mainly with the concept of the flick. Both of his first films were psychological thrillers and this looks to be more of the same.
The simple title and the clouds on the poster give off an ominous feeling. The viewer is looking at a town or village from a far. There is a huge mountain in the background, but overall it is hard to truly tell what is going on.
We’ll have to wait and find out what Nope is all about.
The Universal and Monkeypaw production is set for a July 22, 2022 release, nearly a year away.
