Johnny Knoxville to take a ‘Sick Day’

Empire Online is reporting that Johnny Knoxville is set to star in Sick Day, a new comedy by Jeremy Garelick, the screenwriter behind 2006’s The Break-Up.

In Sick Day Knoxville is playing one of three guys who for one day a year take a sick day and fulfill whatever fantasies they can without getting caught. A sort of modernized take on the 1980’s film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, except with thirty and forty somethings.

Garelick will be rewriting the current script; understandable given his history in rewriting of comedic scripts (he rewrote The Hangover with director Todd Phillips). With Garelick currently finishing up his directorial debut The Wedding Ringer the release date for this hasn’t been set yet, but you can expect a late 2015 release.

Keep your eyes out for The Wedding Ringer, as this could give us an indication of Garelick’s vision and understanding of composition and comedic timing. We know what Knoxville brings: his physical comedy.
