John Krasinski as Superman? Yes, please! Monday morning, The Office alum shared an image on his Twitter account revealing that not only is he playing Superman in DC’s League of Super-Pets but what his character is going to look like in the upcoming animated film.
“Always wanted to do a buddy movie with [Dwayne Johnson],” Krasinski tweeted. “Well, these are the roles we were born to play! (FYI… DJ’s the one with the tongue).”

Max Fleischer’s 1940s cartoons inspire Superman’s outfit, and it has lately reappeared in flashbacks of Tyler Hoechlin’s character on Superman & Lois.
Superman is best-friends with Krypto, the super dog that will be voiced by Dwayne Johnson in which the film follows a bunch of super-powered animals, many of them tied to some of DC’s greatest superheroes, as they fight global dangers.
Long before this announcement was made, Krasinski was attached to the animated film in June, but his role was unknown. Along with Krasinski, the film would star Keanu Reeves, Diego Luna, Natasha Lyonne, Kate McKinnon, and Vanessa Bayer.
Kevin Hart will voice Ace the Bat-Hound, the crime-fighting partner of Batman and Robin. Marc Maron will voice Superman’s arch-enemy Lex Luthor.
Jared Stern and Sam Levine directed DC League of Super-Pets from a script written by Stern and John Whittington. Stern and Whittington co-wrote The Lego Batman Movie and The Lego Ninjago Movie. So, fans are going to be quite familiar with the kind of comedy that they write.
The animated film was originally intended to be released on May 21, 2021, but was pushed back to May 20, 2022, exclusively for theaters. No longer will Warner Bros. films be released on HBO Max and theaters on the same day for year 2022.
