As with every film based on the caped crusader, audiences are curious to see who is going to be the villain in The Batman from Matt Reeves. With more casting announcements occurring for the upcoming DC film, new one has recently surfaced. Star of Spike Lee’s BlackKKlansman and son of Denzel Washington, John David Washington is in talks to potentially be in the film.
There is no official word on who he will be playing or if he will officially have a role, however there are discussions at play. Washington has been considered to play the role as Harvey Dent otherwise known as Two-Face. This is not the first time a person of color has played Dent, as Tim Burton‘s Batman from 1989 had Billy Dee Williams in the role of Dent. However, Williams did not get to delve into Dent’s other personality with Two-Face as he was replaced by Tom Lee Jones in Batman Forever when the character was fully introduced.
The up and coming Washington has been making quite a career for himself with his role in BlackKklansman receiving several award nominations including Best Actor in a Drama at the Golden Globes. The actor is playing the lead in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming project Tenet which also features The Batman’s Bruce Wayne himself, Robert Pattinson. The actor certainly has a lot of big roles ahead and this potential role in an iconic franchise would be a huge step in his career going forward.
The Batman is set for release on June 25th, 2021.
