John Boyega Finds Himself Under Interrogation in the Latest Trailer for Kathryn Bigelow’s ‘Detroit’

“A police raid in Detroit in 1967 results in one of the largest and most intense riots in United States history, leading to the federalization of the Michigan National Guard and the involvement of two Airborne Divisons of the United States Army.” This true-life tale provides the basis for the forthcoming docudrama Detroit, an all-star new feature from director Kathryn Bigelow and scribe Mark Boal, both of whom earned Academy Awards for the 2009 Iraq War thriller The Hurt Locker. A second trailer for the feature has been released, granting us a further look at the provocation on display. Bigelow and Boal also collaborated on the Oscar nominated Zero Dark Thirty, which centered on the raid of Osama bin Laden.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens breakout John Boyega leads the film alongside a stalwart ensemble cast that includes Will Poulter (The Revenant), Algee Smith (Earth to Echo), Jacob Latimore (The Maze Runner), Jason Mitchell (Straight Outta Compton), Hannah Murray (Game of Thrones), Jack Reynor (Sing Street), Kaitlyn Dever (Short Term 12), John Krasinski (The Hollars), Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker), Jeremy Strong (The Big Short), Samira Wiley (Orange is the New Black).

Check out the latest trailer below. AnnaPurna Pictures will release the film on August 4th.
