Jennifer Lawrence Talks ‘No Hard Feelings’ And Possible ‘Hunger Games’ Sequels

Jennifer Lawrence has started her promotional tour for No Hard Feelings, starring herself, Andrew Barth Feldman, Laura Benanti, and Matthew Broderick.

Directed by Gene Stupnitsky, the film follows Maddie (Lawrence) accepting a Craigslist ad posted by two helicopter parents, promising a car in exchange for dating their socially-awkward son Percy. Maddie, an Uber driver who recently got her car repossessed, promises to “date his brains out” in exchange for the car, and hilarity ensues.

The film is rated R for its explicit language and nude scenes, which many fans of adult comedies are hoping will revive the market for R-rated adult comedies in the style of The 40-Year-Old Virgin or Superbad.

Lawrence had nothing but good things to say about the cast and crew. So did Feldman, a relative newcomer who was previously known for playing Evan Hansen in the titular musical on Broadway. Of their nude scene in the movie, he said it was uncomfortable, “But it was so incredibly safe. Everyone was so kind, constantly checking in that we were okay.”

Lawrence revealed that Feldman also deferred his acceptance to Harvard in order to star in the film. “Very Percy-like,” she said. She praised him, saying he was just the right actor for the role.

When asked by Variety if she’d ever reprise her role as Katniss Everdeen, the star gave an enthusiastic yes.  “If Katniss ever could ever come back into my life, 100 percent,” she said. Although there are no plans for a Hunger Games prequel or sequel featuring Katniss, another sequel, The Ballad of Songbird and Snakes is set to hit theaters in November of this year.

No Hard Feelings will be released in theaters on June 23rd.
