Jennifer Lawrence Injured on ‘Don’t Look Up’ Set, Production Temporarily Suspended

There’s a lot of hype behind Adam McKay’s upcoming Netflix comedy Don’t Look Up, which boasts star-studded cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Cate Blanchett and Timothée Chalamet. But, while filming the streamer’s new movie on a Boston set, a controlled glass explosion left Lawrence with minor injuries, resulting in a temporary suspension of production.

First reported by TMZ, Lawrence was shooting the scene with her co-star Chalamet when shards of glass were sent flying. The incident occurred Friday, and Lawrence is set to return to production when it resumes this Monday.

The film stars DiCaprio and Lawrence as two low-level scientists who discover that a meteor will destroy Earth in six months. They go on a media tour to warn the world but find an unreceptive and incredulous populace.

Lawrence is also set to star in a few other films including Paolo Sorrentino’s upcoming adaptation of Teresa Carpenter’s 1991 biographical novel Mob Girl, which tells the story of mother living in New York’s Lower East Side who becomes a mafia informant for the FBI. Lawrence will also star in another film being directed by McKay, Bad Blood, which is based on John Carrycou’s bestselling novel and follows Elizabeth Holmes, an entrepreneur whose biotech company skyrockets her to fame with an estimated value in the billions. When federal agencies begin to investigate the company, its legitimacy is called into question.

Don’t Look Up doesn’t have a set release date, but fortunately, Lawrence is okay and production is resuming shortly so it’s likely we’ll see the film on Netflix sometime later this year.
