Jennifer Lawrence Featured in New ‘Joy’ Poster

In a new blue-hued poster for director David O. Russell’s upcoming film, Joy, star Jennifer Lawrence (Hunger Games franchise), sporting sunglasses and a leather jacket, gazes upwards during a light snowfall.

Joy follows the rags-to-riches true story of Joy Mangano, a struggling single mother who became a millionaire with her invention of the Miracle Mop. Russell and Lawrence previously teamed for Silver Linings Playbook (for which Lawrence won an Academy Award) and American Hustle (for which Lawrence was nominated for an Academy Award). Both films also garnered Russell Academy Award nominations for Best Director. Other cast members include Russell alums Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle) who plays an executive at the Home Shopping Network where Mangano became a staple with her home products, and Robert DeNiro (Silver Linings Playbook) as Mangano’s father.

The Fox film, co-written by Russell and Annie Mumolo (Bridesmaids), is scheduled to open on Christmas Day 2015, a timely release for awards season.
