Jennifer Garner Joins Bryan Cranston In ‘Wakefield

Jennifer Garner (Danny Collins) is the latest to join the upcoming drama Wakefield according to Variety. The Dallas Buyers Club actress will star opposite Bryan Cranston (Trumbo) with Robin Swicord (The Jane Austen Book Club) writing and directing.

Based on a short story, the film follows a man (Cranston) who leaves his family after after a nervous breakdown to live in their attic without contacting his family. The short story by E.L. Doctorow is a retelling of a story by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Garner will play Cranston’s wife who has to maintain their family while her husband goes into hiding.

Since co- starring in The Dallas Buyers Club (a film that earned Academy Awards for both Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto), Garner has worked in serious projects  including Jason Reitman’s  Men Women & Children, the Al Pacino-lead Danny Collins and is currently filming the Barry Sonnenfeld comedy Nine Lives. Swicord has only directed one feature film but has writing credits on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Memoirs of a Geisha.

Wakefield is currently shooting though no release date has been announced at this time.
