It’s not difficult to find work in Hollywood when you’re as talented as Jamie Foxx. The multi-dimensional entertainer will add to his ever growing resume by portraying the character Little John in the upcoming film Robin Hood: Origins. Foxx will star alongside Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service), who landed the main role as Robin Hood, in the Lionsgate produced movie.
Foxx’s most recent gig on the big screen was in 2014, as he played the role of William Stacks in the updated version of the musical Annie. It appears that he’ll be part of another updated story in this upcoming project. Foxx will also soon be seen in Edgar Wright’s upcoming action comedy Baby Driver.
Otto Bathurst has been chosen to direct with Joby Harold (Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur) penning the script. The only other confirmed cast member is Eve Hewson (Bridge of Spies) who will portray Maid Marian. Robin Hood: Origins aims to create a darker tone in its take of the legendary tale of its titular character. The last take on the medieval hero was in 2010’s Robin Hood directed by Ridley Scott.
Starring as a supportive character isn’t out of the ordinary to Foxx. He received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor in the film Collateral in 2004.
No release date has been announced yet for Robin Hood: Origins but the film is expected for sometime in 2017..
