James Marsden and Idina Menzel Returning for ‘Enchanted’ Sequel, ‘Disenchanted’

Production on the Disney+ Enchanted sequel is slowly getting underway. And, In recent live stream interview, Disenchanted composer Alan Menken confirmed that James Marsden and Idina Menzel would be reprising their roles from the 2007 original.  Amy Adams is in it. Patrick [Dempsey] is in it. …Menzel is in it. …Marsden — they’re in it,” Menken said after a rendition of his Oscar-nominated song from the first film, “That’s How You Know.” The composer also said that filming has already begun.

The film follows the same characters as before ten years after the first movie’s “happily ever after.” When Giselle questions her happiness, she inadvertently turns the lives of those in the real world and her home-world, Andalasia, upside down.

Adam Shankman is helming the film with a script from Brigitte Hales, Jessie Nelson, J. David Stem and David N. Weiss. Shankman previously worked with Marsden on the 2007 musical, Hairspray.

There’s no planned release date for the film, but since it isn’t looking for a theatrical release, it’s likely that it won’t be long before we see more about the new Disney sequel. The film was announced late last year during Disney’s Investor Day meeting alongside a slew of other film announcements.
