Jackie Chan is getting his first wide western release since 2010’s The Spy Next Door and The Karate Kid in a new action-thriller that is directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) and written by David Marconi (Live Free or Die Hard). The film is based on the 1992 book titled The Chinaman that was written by Stephen Leather. The film is scheduled to be released on October 13th.
The film tells the story of a restaurant owner played by Jackie Chan who’s daughter is killed by rogue group of IRA terrorists. He is seeking the identities of the bombers and enlists in the help of a government agent played by Pierce Brosnan. A father with a mysterious past seeks vengeance and justice against the people who killed his daughter.
Also to be included in the film will be Charlie Murphy (BBC Series Love/Hate), Liu Tao (Ode to Joy), and Katie Leung (who played Cho Chang in the Harry Potter films). This will also be the first time since GoldenEye that Martin Campbell and Pierce Bronson have worked together. As the tagline goes, “Never push a man too far.”
