Evan Peters to Return as Quicksilver in ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’

It looks like Quicksilver will be speeding back into theaters soon: Evan Peters (American Horror Story) will appear again in his role as Peter Maximoff in the upcoming Jean Grey title film, X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

Other actors returning to the franchise include Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, James McAvoy as Professor X, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, and of course Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, the titular Dark Phoenix. They will be joined by newcomer Lamar Johnson (The Next Step) as currently unknown character, as well as Jessica Chastain (Crimson Peak), who is rumored to be playing the villain of the film, Lilandra.

Having Quicksilver and his father, Magneto, in the same film is an opportunity rife with the drama. While it was established that, like in the comic book lore, Magneto is Quicksilver’s long lost biological father (as well as the dad to Scarlet Witch), it was also confirmed briefly in X-Men: Days of Future Past and then touched on again in X-Men: Apocalypse. Though this film may also not have the space to address the relationship between the two characters, it would be nice to eventually find resolution to a plot thread that has been continually glossed over. Until then, we’ll have to wonder which older song production will select to play as Quicksilver saves the X-Men in slow motion.

The film is scheduled to open on November 2, 2018.
