Idris Elba Led Film ‘Concrete Cowboy’ Gets Release Date and Poster

Netflix is continuing to release films with A-List talent, and here’s another one in less than month. The popular streaming service has released a poster for the Idris Elba and Caleb McLaughlin film Concrete Cowboy.

The poster does a great job of showing the eclectic nature of the film that is described as “A teenager(McLaughlin) [discovering] the world of urban horseback riding when he moves in with his estranged father(Elba) in North Philadelphia.” The film is based on a book entitled Ghetto Cowboy by Gregory Neri. Which in itself is inspired by true events in Philadelphia.

The film is directed by Ricky Staub and is written by Staub and Dan Walser. This will be Staub’s directorial feature debut, and is now set for release in April of 2021. Netflix picked it up from TIFF and a sneak peak of the film was released all the way back in September of 2020.

Caleb McLaughlin, best known as Lucas on Stranger Things, is starting to expand his career as he gets closer to his twenties. This movie is a perfect opportunity for him to lead a film and co-star with an A-lister in Elba.

Elba, on the other hand, is one of the most high profile actors of the last decade. He will be strapping on boots and riding horseback once more later this year in The Harder They Fall with a truly incredible cast.

Concrete Cowboy is set to stream on Netflix on April 2, 2021.
