Ian McShane Returns as Winston In ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’

Deadline reports that Lionsgate has recently closed deal for Ian McShane to reprise the role of Winston opposite Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 4, directed by Chad Stahelski. McShane joins the previously announced cast of Donnie Yen, Hiroyuki Sanada, Rina Sawayama, Shamier Anderson, and Lance Reddick.

Stahelski tells Deadline, “I couldn’t be happier than to welcome Ian McShane back to John Wick: Chapter 4. He is not only an amazing actor but is an indispensable collaborator who has helped define the world of John Wick.”

The film is currently in production and shooting this summer in France, Germany, and Japan. Shay Hatten and Michael Finch pen the script, while actor Reeves himself is executive producing alongside Louise Rosner.

McShane was most recently seen as Mr. Wednesday in the hit Starz television series American Gods. He previously won Golden Globe Award for his performance as Al Swearengen in the HBO western series Deadwood before reprising the role in the film Deadwood: The Movie. He also received two Primetime Emmy nominations for the series.

His screen career credits include The Wild and the Willing, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Snow White and the Huntsman, Hellboy, and Sexy Beast. Notable TV credits include Ray Donavan, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Pillars of the Earth, and Kings.

Just as John Wick is a successful series, bringing back notable characters from the franchise is a bold and logical move by the production team. Stay tuned for more on John Wick 4 and how Winston will continue playing a key role in the world of the film.
