Hugh Jackman Will Return as Wolverine in ‘Deadpool 3’

Ryan Reynolds has confirmed Hugh Jackman will don the claws one more time for Deadpool 3. The actor revealed the news in a surprise video, plus the film’s release date, September 6th, 2024. Fans were impatiently waiting for any announcement related to the movie after nothing was mentioned at D23.

Deadpool 3 will mark the mutant’s long awaited entry into the MCU, after Disney acquired the character and the rest of the mutants in 2019. Fans have seen a trickle of the beloved mutants into the MCU already. With Evan Peters’ mind blowing reveal in WandaVision and Sir Patrick Stewart’s surprise return as Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Also, Ms. Marvel‘s controversial reveal in the season finale.

Few thought Jackman would return to the iconic character after his loving goodbye to the character in Logan. At the time, he held the title for playing a superhero for the longest time. He has since lost the title to Toby Maguire after he reprised his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Deadpool 3 will mark a long-awaited reunion after the lackluster showdown in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Reynolds as Wade Wilson made continuous jokes about his love for Jackman in Deadpool and Deadpool 2, but he never got to meet Wolverine as full-fledged Deadpool.

Disney and Marvel have promised Deadpool 3 will maintain an R rating.
