How Many More Roles in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Are There?

At this point, maybe it would be wiser to just wait until Guardians of the Galaxy starts filming than to try to report on complete main cast for the film. If you’re just catching up on what the heck Guardians of the Galaxy is or wondering if you heard right that Glenn Close might be in this, too, please see our previous articles on this film. Yes, there’s a fair bit to explain.

And more, it seems, with news that Benicio Del Toro will be joining the already loaded cast as well. His role has not been confirmed, but it’s reported that the contract includes appearances in multiple films. This actually runs according to form for Marvel; when Mark Ruffalo signed his contract to play Bruce Banner/The Hulk in The Avengers, it included appearances in six total films – even though Marvel isn’t currently planning a new stand-alone Hulk movie. It does, of course, suggest that Del Toro’s character will be important enough to stick around for a few films.

Also cast in Guardians is Dr. Who vet Karen Gillam. She will reportedly be joining the film’s villains, but like Del Toro, no word yet on who her character will be.

As mentioned before, Guardians of the Galaxy appears to be shaping into a fine little (or maybe not so little) romp and a welcome change of pace from the superhero movies we’ve had thus far. Guardians of the Galaxy is due for wide release in August of next year.
