Here’s the First Look at Michael Fassbender as Apple Icon Steve Jobs

The first teaser trailer for Universal Studio’s Steve Jobs, the Danny Boyle (Trance) directed biopic that stars Michael Fassbender (Slow West), Kate Winslet (Insurgent), Seth Rogen (The Interview), Jeff Daniels (Dumb and Dumber To) and Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice) gives us a tiny glimpse into Jobs’ struggles behind the curtain before finally showing us Fassbender as the tech giant, trademark black turtle neck and all.

The teaser effectively uses bits of dialogue to reveal some of the behind the scenes conflict surrounding Jobs and company, but shows us little else outside of the final image of Jobs. Still, it’s remarkably potent and reminds us of the teaser for a previous Aaron Sorkin (TV’s The Newsroom) penned tech biopic. Audiences might remember the initial teaser for David Fincher’s (Gone GirlThe Social Network, which mainly utilized key bits of dialogue – and clever reveal of Jesse Eisenberg (The Double) as Mark Zuckerberg composed out of a bunch of tiny Facebook profile pictures – to establish much of the conflict at the heart of the story. The trailer for Boyle’s Steve Jobs uses that same formula.

Steve Jobs will focus on three different yet significant points in Jobs’ life, which is centered around the product launch of the Mac in 1984, as well as Apple’s purchase of NeXT in 1997, and the unveiling of the iPod years later. These three key moments ultimately helped to not only shape Jobs’ life, but also the eventual path of Apple as well. Steve Jobs will be released on October 9th.
