It has been three years since Harry Styles has been seen on the big screen, first debuting in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk. Styles has now been confirmed by Deadline to have joined Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling, with Florence Pugh, Chris Pine, and Dakota Johnson with Olivia Wilde in the movie as well in a supporting role.
Styles replaces Shia LaBeouf, who was once a part of the movie but had to exit his role because of scheduling conflicts.
Details of the film are being kept under wraps; the plot is unknown. Still, we do know that it is being described as a psychological thriller in the California desert about an unhappy housewife in the 1950s.
Katie Silberman, who worked with Wilde on her directorial debut Booksmart, wrote the screenplay based on a spec script by Shane and Carey Van Dyke.
Catherine Hardwicke, who previously directed movies like Twilight, Thirteen, Lords of Dogtown, and The Nativity Story, just to name a few, is an executive producer for the film.
According to Deadline, an insider says Warner Bros execs have always been looking for that next thing after being blown away by his acting chops in Dunkirk. Even though Styles has only one movie under his acting belt, having him attached to any project definitely brings big star power.
