Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus Ross In ‘Captain America: New World Order’ Will Be U.S. President

It was previously announced that Harrison Ford replaced the late actor William Hurt as the MCU character Thaddeus Ross in Captain America: New World Order. We now have more information regarding his role.

Kevin Feige recently sat down for an interview with Entertainment Weekly, where he spewed information about all things MCU, phase five, and Captain America: New World Order. He revealed that filming for the project would begin soon and spoke about Ford’s character.

I’m sure anyone you’ve ever talked with about Harrison Ford says this, but it’s unbelievable that we get to meet and talk with him and that he’s embracing this role. He’s tireless with the amount of work that he does. This is certainly a big part for Thaddeus Ross. He’s the president of the United States in the film. And with Harrison, you think about Air Force One, and you think about some of his confrontations with the president in Clear and Present Danger. There’s a dynamic between President Ross and Sam Wilson. They have a history together, but in this film, we’ll be seeing the dynamic between Captain America and the president of the United States in a way that is just incredible.”

Feige commented that since Jon Faveru cast Ford in Cowboys and Aliens (2011), he wanted to cast Ford in something himself, so to do so now “is just incredible.”

As Feige said himself, this is hardly the first time Ford is playing a fictional US president. Ford played the part of President James Marshall in Air Force One (1997).

Captain America: New World Order will be directed by Julius Onah and feature Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, AKA Captain America. The movie is slated to come out on May 3, 2024.
