Hanna-Barbera’s “The Banana Splits Adventure Hour” to Become Horror Film

If you are a child of the 1960’s or 70’s you might remember a Hanna-Barbera show called The Banana Splits Adventure HourThis live action show starred an anthropomorphic group of funny animals who played in fictional a band called The Banana Splits and went on adventures. Now decades later these quirky characters will be returning in a new movie titled The Banana Splits.

However, one look at the trailer for The Banana Splits reveals that this movie has more in common with Five Nights at Freddys than the original Hanna-Barbera show, because this movie is R rated horror flick. According to Dark Horizons, the story of The Banana Splits follows a young boy named Harley (Finlay Wojtak-Hissong) who receives tickets to go see a taping of the original Banana Splits show for his birthday. But when Harley, his mom (Dani Kind), dad (Steve Lund), and older brother (Romeo Carere) arrive on set, they discover that the friendly animal characters from TV are actually bloodthirsty monsters. Now the family must fend off the deadly attacks of Fleegle, Bingo, Drooper, and Snorky in order to survive.

The Banana Splits script was written by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomasis. It will first premiere on the Syfy channel before coming out on home media and streaming services.
